What We Believe

We believe in the one only living true God and His Word, the Bible. We believe in the worship of the Triune God.

We believe in the Gospel message of salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

We believe in the biblical doctrine contained in the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Westminster Shorter Catechism, and the Westminster Larger Catechism.

We believe that the Church is to worship God, equip and lift up believers, and evangelize the lost.

Thomson Presbyterian Church was founded in 1937, and the Sanctuary was dedicated on February 5, 1938. The facilities have expanded to include a second story, business offices, classrooms, choir room and youth activities facilities. We are located in Thomson, Georgia 30824.

Who We Are

We are a close-knit group of Christians who enthusiastically welcome all visitors who come through our door and constantly show love for each other by supporting and serving those in the congregation who are ill, infirm, or grieving.

There are 57 members and regular attenders at TPC the majority of whom are 55 and older.

We are led by two elders and a Moderator of Session. Together they constitute the church’s Session.

There are three deacons.

For Sunday worship we have a solo musician who leads us with a combination of traditional hymns.

On Sundays from 9:30 to 10:30 AM we offer one Sunday School class for adults led by our elders.

In addition, when younger children and/or infants attend, we have designated adults to teach and provide nursery care.

Between Sunday school and the worship service we enjoy a time of fellowship with coffee and treats.

Sunday worship is at 11:00 AM. This includes announcements, a call to worship and prayer, and singing a combination of traditional hymns. The pastor follows with preaching from the Word of God. We currently publish our morning worship on You Tube at

We celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month.

What we want in a Pastor

Our pastor must be a committed believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior who preaches doctrinally reformed sermons.

He will be a dynamic leader of the congregation and interested in outreach to the local community.

We need a Pastor who has experience in christian counseling.

We want a pastor who willingly engages in pastoral care and encourages elders, deacons, and members to participate according to their spiritual gifts and abilities.

As a minister in the ARP Church our pastor will be responsible to train elders and deacons, keep them informed about Presbytery and Synod issues, and take them with him to Presbytery and Synod meetings whenever possible.

Who we want to be

We desire to grow as a gospel-centered congregation of people who have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, who know and love Him more and more each day.

We want to be a congregation that welcomes and supports families in leading their children to Christ.

We long to have a vibrant witness to reach our community with the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ regardless of religious background, cultural heritage, race, and socio-economic status.

We want to learn to attract and disciple younger members and attenders, grow a congregation that greets visitors with love, presents the Gospel in an engaging way, and loves its attenders at all levels of Christian maturity.

We want to consistently and systematically train our members to be mature disciples of Christ who can themselves make disciples.
